  • NRMPS Teacher of the Year, Principal of the Year Named at Annual Banquet

    Nearly 150 people gathered at the Rose Hill Conference Center at Nathan Hall to honor various Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) educators during the 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year and Principal of the Year Banquet on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. Patricia Edmondson of Rocky Mount Middle School was named the 2017-2018 NRMPS Teacher of the Year and Victor L. Ward, Sr., Principal of Nash Central High School, was named the 2017-2018 NRMPS Principal of the Year.

  • Nash Central Middle School Wins NRMPS Quiz Bowl

    – Nash Central Middle School (NCMS) won the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) Middle School Quiz Bowl event that was held on March 16, 2017 at the Booker T. Washington Theater in Rocky Mount. Southern Nash Middle School finished second in the competition and Edwards Middle School finished third. Quiz Bowl is an academic competition where teams compete in a head-to-head challenge to be the first team to answer various academic questions.

  • Nash Central Middle Wins Middle School Battle of the Books

    Teams representing all six middle schools in the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) district competed in the Middle School Battle of the Books competition on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. For the second year in a row, Nash Central Middle School (NCMS) won the competition. Red Oak Middle School finished second and Southern Nash Middle School finished third.

  • NRMPS Plans to Address Fiscal Challenges

    For the past seven years, Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools has seen a trend in declining enrollment that has created significant fiscal challenges. As we prepare the 2017-2018 Budget Recommendation Report, we must plan a course of action to address fiscal challenges to enhance the financial health of the school district. We will address these challenges by bringing expenditures in alignment with our allocations.

    Teams representing every elementary school in the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) district competed in the Elementary School Battle of the Books on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in order to crown a district winner.

  • NRMPS Public Information Department Honored at NCSPRA Blue Ribbon Awards

    School public relations professionals across the state were honored on Friday, January 27, 2017 for the products of their craft during the North Carolina School Public Relations Association’s (NCSPRA) annual Blue Ribbon Awards for Effective Communications. The event was held at the O. Henry Hotel in Greensboro and 37 school districts were recognized for outstanding work with a total of 237 awards in eight categories.

  • Tar River Academy Graduates Start New Chapter

    A total of 25 Tar River Academy (TRA) seniors started a new chapter in their lives on Friday, January 27, 2017 by becoming high school graduates. Members of the Winter Class of 2017 have various plans after TRA, as 10 will attend two year colleges, two will enlist in the military and 13 will enter the workforce. Dea'jah Zeldrique Baker was the class Valedictorian and Miguel Angel Antunez was the Salutatorian.
