What is NCWISE?NCWISE, (the North Carolina Window of Information on Student Education) is an online electronic student accounting system that provides student and school information management capabilities. It replaced the SIMS (Student Information Management System) that was in use in North Carolina public schools since the late 80's. Data is stored centrally in a state assigned data warehouse and accessed and reported in a safe, secure manner across the Internet. NCWISE is fully web-based and is accessible to teachers, administrators, school support staff and district-level employees. The NCWISE application has now been successfully implemented in all but two North Carolina school districts. Full implementation will take place by end of summer 2011.
