GOALS

Programs in career and technical education are designed to contribute to the broad educational achievements of students. These programs contribute to students being able to:

  • Identify, organize, plan, and allocate resources- time, money, materials and facilities, and human resources.
  • Work with others by participating as a team member, serving clients/customers, negotiating, and working with diversity.
  • Acquire and use information.
  • Work with and operate effectively within social organizations and technological systems.
  • Work with a variety of technologies.
  • Contribute to the development of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and mathematical systems.
  • Contribute to the development of thinking creatively, making decisions, solving problems, and reasoning
    .

MISSION

The mission of career and technical education is to help empower students for effective participation in a global economy as world-class workers and citizens. It fulfills this by:

  • Preparing students for further career-technical education.
  • Preparing students for initial employment.
  • Assisting in making educational and occupational decisions.
  • Applying and reinforcing related learning from other disciplines.
  • Preparing students to make informed consumer decisions and applying practical life skills.
  • Assisting persons who have academic, socioeconomic, and/or other disadvantages or handicaps that prevent them from succeeding in career-technical education.
  • Providing career guidance to assist students in making informed career decisions.

VISION

We envision a nation where every citizen:

  • Is employable at age 18, prepared to learn for life in a seamless web of school and work-based opportunities.
  • Has learning opportunities where teaching methods match learning styles.
  • Has a future limited only by the student's talent and commitment.
  • Will thrive where education and training providers understand workplace needs and all agencies collaborate and contribute what they do best.
