The English as a Second Language (ESL) Program is a language assistance program that provides the framework for students of limited English proficiency to equal access to the school curriculum. This program is available to any eligible student enrolled in Nash-Rocky Mount Schools Pre K-12.

The purpose of the ESL program is to meet the special needs of students for whom English is a second language in a nurturing, accepting environment which focuses on transition to mainstream academic classes and bridges the language and cultural barriers between the home and the school.

It is our goal to promote the development of academic skills and English language skills simultaneously in order to provide language minority students with the instruction necessary to allow them to progress through school at a rate commensurate with their native-English-speaking peers making the best use of our district and community resources.
