Inclement Weather Plan
Inclement Weather Procedures
How does Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) determine whether to close or delay school when inclement weather is predicted?
School closings/delays will be made by the Superintendent based on weather forecasts and input from Transportation staff on road conditions. As soon as a decision is made, a variety of methods will be used to communicate the decision throughout the district.
In addition to our district website www.nrms.k12.nc.us, EdTV (our TV station) and ConnectEd, local radio and tv outlets are notified immediately by central office staff.
In general, our district website www.nrms.k12.nc.us, EdTV (Suddenlink(3) and Time Warner(95/97), WRAL-TV (5), WTVD-TV (11), WNCT-TV (9) and WITN-TV (7) should be checked first. A number of local radio stations are also on the call list, but are not always staffed/open when our decision is made. Therefore, the district website and local TV stations are great sources to check first.
Weather events lasting for more than one day will follow the same notification procedures. Student safety is the central focus of Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools and our inclement weather procedures.
