How Do We Implement Differentiation?

Ms. Sandra Stinson visited with our staff for three additional days of training on Differentiated Instruction. Content, process, product, learning profiles, lesson planning check lists, tiered learning, anchor activities, interest surveys, assessment guidelines, and lots of strategies for flexible grouping, classroom management, and content activities were all a part of each day. What kind of learners are in our classrooms? How can we  work gradually and consistently to create supportive learning environments, implement flexible grouping, maintain high quality curriculum, create respectful tasks, and use continual assessment to benefit all our students?

We had a great time rotating through activities designed for different learning profiles to develop our understanding of differentiated learning concepts. There was time each day to create a variety of activities that can be adapted to the content of every grade level. We experienced flexible grouping as well as time to work alone. In total, it was a great learning experience! Change is good.

By the way, what kind of learner are you, a puppy, a beach ball, a clipboard or a microscope? Have you ever created a magic book? Photos
Differentiated Instruction takes on New Meaning at Williford

We are beginning our year with a wonderful dose of professional development in Differentiated Instruction. Ms. Sandra Stinson will be visiting with our faculty four days this month to help us become more expert on what differentiation is, what it looks like and how we can better implement it in our classrooms. We enjoyed our first sessions and are looking forward to future workshop dates.

Thank you Ms. Sandra Stinson of the North Carolina Teacher Academy for assisting us in our continued journey to sharpen our skills and create learning experiences that address all our childrens learning styles. Photos
