  • Donate Books to Stop Summer Slide

Hi Families, did you know that reading just 5 books over thesummer can help students maintain the reading skills they developed over the school year?! WAVE is participating in NCReads, a statewide initiative that will help stop summer slide. We want to send books home with all of our students, but we need your help! Please send in new and gently used books. Also, please talk with any community agencies or groups you connectwith to possibly donate new or gently used books. We will becollecting books until May 10. We would like students to “shop” for five books of their choice to take home for the summer.

  • This Little Heart of Mine

John Joyner, a former student at WAVE and now a 3rd Grader at Englewood,  initiated the "Pulling Together" Campaign at Englewood.

The campaign helps the Ronald McDonald Houses of Durham & Wake Counties and Eastern North Carolina. It is really easy to help. All you do is collect the little tabs you pull to open a soda, soup or other aluminum cans.

The funds generated from recycling these aluminum gems help offset the House's expenses. Little things can make a big difference.

John asked WAVE to help and boy did we! We collected over 67,000 pop tabs!!!!
