Elbert Purvis, maintenance employee for Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS), was named as the 2017 North Carolina Maintenance Employee of the Year. The honor was revealed at the 45th annual Eastern Convention/Workshop of the North Carolina Public School Maintenance Association (NCPSMA) held in late September. The Maintenance Employee of the Year award was established 30 years ago and is sponsored annually by Saffelle, Inc.
Purvis won the prestigious award because he is admired and respected by NRMPS maintenance employees, as his peers were responsible for nominating him for this honor. Purvis sets the bar for others through his work ethic, attitude and positive influence. He demonstrates what it means to be a dedicated employee and leads by example. Even with the extreme, physically demanding hard work that he does day in and day out, Purvis always wears a smile and is willing and ready to help in any way he can.
Superintendent Dr. Jefferies reflected on Purvis’ award. “We are proud of Mr. Purvis for this amazing accomplishment. We appreciate his hard work, dedication and passion for what he does. He is a model employee and this award is another confirmation of how much of an asset he is to NRMPS,” Dr. Jefferies stated.
Purvis was recognized during the November Board of Education Meeting on Monday, November 6, 2017. He is also featured in the Sounding Board digital newsletter that is posted on the NRMPS website and social media channels.
