•  ACT Student Champion Award

    The ACT Student Champion Award recognizes one student in each state who is tenacious and persistent, no matter the challenge, and is prepared for life after high school with a goal in mind and plan in place. 

    ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition. 

    Please encourage students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria to apply: 

    • A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions
    • Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale
    • Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.

    NC Society Daughters of the Revolution Good Citizens Scholarship Contest

    The DAR Good Citizens program honors an outstanding young person in the senior class who demonstrates qualities of a good citizen.  The applicants must have qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism.  Applicants must submit an essay, transcript, and two letters of reccomendation.

    West Teaching Scholarship at the Catawba College Academy for Teaching

    A yearly award of $2,500 in addition to any other academic scholarships for which the student is eligible. The Academy provides a wealth of experiences including early field experiences, excursions and professional networking.

The NC Division of Veterans Affairs scholarship program is limited to the children of disabled, deceased, combat, or POW/MIA war veterans.     Fresh n' Lean Scholarship 

    This scholarship would be for high school seniors looking to be enrolled in college for Fall 2018.

    As part of the application process, we require that the student submit a short video or photo essay that shows how their personal eating habits have helped them achieve specific goals.

    The award amount for this scholarship is $1,500 and the application must be submitted by May 1st, 2018.

    A few other specifics of the scholarship are as follows:

    • Must be a legal resident and currently living in the United States
    • Fresh n’ Lean staff’s members are not eligible to enter
    • Home-schooled students may apply (must be equivalent to high school senior)

    Mary Perry Scholarship

    This scholarship is sponsored by Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Sorority for Women Educators. The purpose of this scholarship shall be to encourage commitment to educational excellence and to give financial assistance to teachers or those preparing to teach. This $1500 scholarship will be awarded to a college-bound Nash County student who plans to major in the Education field by a Board of Directors of the Gamma Tau Scholarship Committee at the last meeting in May of each year.

    There are two scholarships available. One to a senior and one to an underclassman. To be eligible for the senior scholarship, you must:

     UNCG Guarantee

    Have you heard of the UNCG Guarantee? It's a scholarship that helps recent North Carolina high-school graduates with family incomes at or below poverty graduate from UNCG with little or no debt. There is an entire community of support within this scholars program including academic resources, professional and leadership development, peer advising and a UNCG mentor.

    Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship

    This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college.     LeRoy Hartsfield Scholarship

    This $250 scholarship is sponsored by Mr. LeRoy Hartsfield, the first principal of Nash Central High School when it opened in August 2002. Mr. Hartfield recently retired in 2013 after more than 30 years of his service to students. He served in many various positions from Principal to Assistant Superintendent. 

    Requirements:

    • 3.25 GPA
    • Student must demonstrate leadership, good citizenship, force of character, and community spirit
    • Must have sustained involvment in one extracurricular activity and at least two community service activities
    • Must have acceptance to a 2 or 4 year college or university in the fall

    Peacemakers of Rocky Mount - Millie S. Morris Scholarship Fund

    This $1000 scholarship is in memory of Millie Morris, a longtime educator in Edgecombe County and Nash-Rocky Mount  Public Schools. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who resides South Rocky Mount and is attending a two or four-year insitution of higher learning.     Lonnie T. Foster Scholarship

    This $1000 scholarship is sponsored by the Epsilon Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. This scholaship is for young men in the Nash-Rocky Mount School System. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

    • have a 2.5 GPA

    • Must possess high academic standards, citizenship, and leadership characteristics.
    • Can be a relative (son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, neice, nephew, brother, or sister) of a member of the Edgecombe-Nash FSU Alumni Chapter
    • Can be a previous applicant who has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0

    Couch Oil Cares Scholarship

    In partnership with the Durham Bulls, $1000 will be awarded to four (4) high school seniors across a 12-county area who plan to attend a four-year or community college. Recipients will be recognized at a Durham Bulls game in August.

    This scholarship was created in honor of the Founders of Tri-City Chapter of Chums to benefit young African-Americans attending college for the first time. This is a one-time scholarship awarded in June.

    NC State Law Enforcement Officers Association Scholarship

    1. Must be a NC resident.
    2. 3.0 GPA or better.
    3. Must major in Criminal Justice or some related field.
    4. Must submit Federal Student Aid Report. Need is considered.
    5. Check will be made directly to institution that student will be attending.
    6. Number of siblings attending college will be considered if any.
    7. Student must be active in school, community, and/or church.
    8. Student cannot have felony convictions or convictions of serious misdemeanors. No pending criminal charges.
    9. Student cannot exceed 24 years of age by deadline of application.
    10. Must submit transcript with application along with 4 references and SAT scores.

    There will be one (1) $1000 scholarship for the top applicant and two (2) additional $500 scholarships to the top additional applicants.

    APlus Test Prep - Free SAT/ACT Prep Preview

    Attend a free Prep Preview and learn what APlus classes are all about. The session includes a strategy session focused on sample test questions, info about using test scores to get college scholarships, and an ongoing Q&A during which participants get all their ACT and SAT questions answered.

    Edgecombe Community College EDGE Scholarship

    This scholarship will be offered to 2017 or 2018 raduates of either Nash or Edgecombe counties. It covers full tuition, books, and fees. To be eligible, students must:

    • have an unweighted GPA of at least 2.6
    • be enrolling in an area of study eligible for financial aid
    • complete the FAFSA
    • acheive at least a 2.6 GPA each semester
    • continuously be enrolled at Edgecombe CC after qualifying for the EDGE scholarship, fall and spring semesters.

    O.D. Moore Scholarship Foundation, Inc. 

    Only 15 applications for this scholarship are available. Students must see their guidance counselor in order to receive the application. Strict guidelines apply. To be considered, one must:

    • complete an application
    • have required signatures on application
    • include photo with application
    • have minimum 1000 SAT score
    • have minimum 15 ACT score
    • have minimum 2.25 GPA
    • complete essay
    • not have full ride from any other entity

    SECU People Helping People Scholarship

    This scholarship is valued at $10,000 (payable @ $1,250 per semester) to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC system. To be eligible, applicants must:

    • be a senior at a NC regular public high school who has been accepted to one of the 16 constituent campuses of the UNC system
    • be a US citizen and resident of NC and is eligible for in-state tuition
    • demonstrate a financial need as determined by the FAFSA 
    • exemplify the membership philosophy of credit unions, People Helping People and has demonstrated leadership, excellence of character, integrity, and community involvement
    • demonstrates scholastic acheivement with a maintained 2.5 GPA or higher and may be deserving of financial aid
    • agrees to continues as a full-time student
    • not be a Board Director, employee, or immediate family member of an employee of the SECU or the SECU foundation.

    Bulldog Alumni Community (BAC) Scholarship Fund

    The BAC Scholarship Fund is a scholarship fund created by an alum of Nash Central High School, Kevin Jones, in order to help close the opportunity gap by creating an opportunity-based scholarship program that maximizes community collaboration and lessens the financial impact of college that many area children and their families face.

    Nash Community College 2018 Summer Bridge Program

    NCC's Summer Bridge Program allows participants to earn college credit for ACA 122 (College Transfer Success Course) while refreshing English and Math skills. This 3-week program provides participants with a JUMP START to a successful college experience. 

    The program dates and times will be released for summer 2018 soon.  

    There is a registration fee for this program, but scholarships are available for those who qualify.     The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation

    This is a non-profit organization established in 1970 to provide scholarships for deserving studebts who indicate a desire to enter the profession of Accounting. The awards will be $750.00 each. 

    To be eligible, applicants must:

    • be a resident of NC
    • enroll in an accredited school of higher ed in NC
    • enroll in an accounting degree program with six (6) or more credit hours per semester for a two or four year degree program (not Master's Degree)
    • show a firm intention to continue in the field of Accounting.

    PFLAG National Scholarship Program

    Eligibility requirements:
    • Graduating senior entering higher education for the first time this calendar year  (if you graduated last year and took time off you are still eligible to apply).
    • Self identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, or anywhere within the LGBTQ "family," or as an ally
    • Demonstrated interest in service to the LGBTQ community
    • Have applied to an accredited US higher education institution (cannot be receiving remissions from other sources to fund the education)

    Rocky Mount Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Bautillion Militaire Scholarship Program

    The Rocky Mount Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated is sponsoring its traditional Beautillion Militaire Scholarship Program for the 2017-2018 academic year. This scholarship program is college preparatory designed, to encourage and motivate high school junior and senior young men to pursue higher education, and to generate funds to offset college expenses. Participants benefits from workshops ranging from Credit & finance, SAT Prep, Etiquette training, and more designed to help prepare for success in college and beyond. In order to participate, you must be on track to graduate and eligible to attend college upon graduation.

     African American Network-Carolinas Scholarship

    The African American Network is a Duke Energy employee resource group of African American employees. The Network identifies developmental growth opportunities for African American employees at Duke Energy and creates value for Duke Energy as a business resource and an organization with solid brand reputation. As part of its mission, the African American Network – Carolinas chapter provides scholarships to college-bound students from North and South Carolina who are pursuing a major in engineering, math, science, computer science, accounting, finance or business administration.

    Scholarships are awarded annually to two accredited colleges or universities and one community service organization. The college, university or community service organization selects the scholar using African American Network – Carolinas criteria which focus on grade point average, residence, leadership skills and financial need. Interested students must contact their college, university or community service organization to apply for this scholarship.

    Minimum Eligibility:

    • Graduating senior at a North or South Carolina high school
    • Must attend a four-year college or university located in North or South Carolina

     Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Scholarhip

    Young women eligible for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:

    • exhibit high ethical and moral character
    • have a minimum 2.5 GPA
    • be a well-rounded student who is involved in clubs, sports, and other extracurricular activities
    • have documentation of volunteer service in school, community, and church

    State Employees Association of North Carolina Scholarship Foundation

    Thirty awards are available (15 merit, 15 financial need) for four year college or university students. Eight are available (four merit, four financial need) for those enrolled in 2-year junior, community, or technical colleges. This application is available online at www.seanc.org/scholarship and must be returned completed to the Scholarship Chairperson of the SEANC district of which the parent is a member. The 2018 applications deadline is TBD.  

    *Only SEANC members or their dependents are eligible to receive scholarships.

    Golden Leaf Scholarship


    High school seniors or community college transfer students planning to attend any of the participating colleges or universities who reside in a qualifying county and demonstrate financial need. Recipients are selected based upon multiple factors including grade point average, financial need, length of residence in the county and the ability to communicate a commitment to returning to a rural county that is economically distressed.

    High school seniors are eligible for a four-year scholarship totaling $12,000 ($3,000 a year over four years). Community college transfer students are eligible for $3,000 a year for up to 3 years.

    Warren "Sneak" Lewis Law Enforcement Foundation, Inc. Scholarship

    This scholarship is awarded to a senior based on academic record, community service, career aspirations, and overall impression o the applicant. Applications can be picked up in the guidance office. There is an essay and application packet requirement. Please see Ms. Vinson for information.

     Distinguished Young Women Scholarships

    Young women who are involved in school and/or community activities, outstanding in academics, leadership, athletics OR the arts, and interested in earning scholarships for college should sign up for the Distinguished Young Women of Rocky Mount Scholarship Program.       Junior Guild Scholarship

    This scholarship is for young women residing in the Rocky Mount area who desire to attend a four-year college or university. This scholarship is based on financial need, scholastic excellence, and outstanding citizenship. The recipient will receive $1500 annually ($750.00 per semester) as long as the students meets the following requirements.
    1. Remain a full-time student (as determined by the institution) and in good academic standing for the four undergraduate years
    2. Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or above each semester
    3. Maintain high standards of citizenship and conduct
    4. Must be used for four consecutive years unless the Junior Guild Board of Directors grants an exception.

     NC Motherless Daughters Scholarship

    The Ruby and Kendrel Scholarship Fund was created in memory of the founders' mothers--Ruby Benston and Kendrel Ross. This scholarship is open to North Carolina young women who have also had the unfortunate loss of their mother.  There are two (2) scholarships available for high school seniors.  Each scholarship is revolving (up to four years) and is in the amount of $2,000 per year.  Complete details, eligibility, and application at www.sheroinc.org/scholarships.

     Davidson College John M. Belk Scholarship


    This scholarships is for students who demonstrate superior intellectual and personal achievements and significant leadership abilities. Up to eight (total) Belk Scholars are selected in every entering class. For each scholar, the Belk Scholarship provides comprehensive funding (tuition, fees, room and board), plus

    The Morehead-Cain Scholarship at UNC-Chapel Hill, the Park Scholarship at NC State, and the Levine Scholarship at UNC-Charlotte are all scholarships of highest esteem. Students must be nominated by their counselor to apply. There will be two nominations for each. 

    All 3 scholarships provide full tuition, and interested students should have an outstanding academic record and excellent character.
