Tar River Academy Seniors Graduate During Mid-Year Graduation Ceremony

Tar River Academy Celebrated Mid-Year Graduation Ceremony
Nashville, NC – The auditorium was filled with excitement as 22 Tar River Academy (TRA) seniors graduated on Thursday, December 20, 2018 during the mid-year graduation held in the school’s auditorium. The Class of 2018 have various plans after TRA as 15 will attend two-year colleges, two will enlist in the military and five will enter the workforce.
Sergeant Major Leo Nieves and the Navy JROTC Color Guard of Nash Central High School opened the graduation followed by the processional. During the ceremony, Principal Willie Howard, III gave the opening remarks stating, “There is nothing more exciting and more pleasing than to see our young people knock down walls by overcoming the many barriers that rise against them. Congratulations to the Tar River Academy Class of 2018. They will continue to “Do Us Proud.”
Alexus Jones introduced the distinguished guests and Jasmine Richardson did reflections. “Do not make the same mistake twice because if you do, it becomes a choice. Do not be stopped by obstacles but instead move forward,” Richardson stated. Dorothy Wilson and Elvira Vasquez Mendez were presented with the Highest Academic Achievement Award by Principal Howard.
Chief of Staff Brian Miller, Board Vice Chair William Sharpe, and Principal Howard presented diplomas and congratulated the graduating class.
