NRMPS Names New Administrators
Nashville, NC – The Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) Board of Education approved three new administrative appointments during the January and February Board of Education meetings. During the January 11, 2018 Board Meeting, Angela Ward was named as the After-School Program Coordinator and Kimberly Rascoe was named as the Center for Industry, Technology and Innovation (CITI) High School Principal. During the February 5, 2018 Board Meeting, Michael Kennedy was named as the Principal of Benvenue Elementary School.
Ward has 26 years of experience in education, all with NRMPS. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Mentoring from Western Carolina University. Ward also has a master’s degree in School Administration and School Counseling from North Carolina Central University. Ward most recently served as the Principal of Benvenue Elementary School. “I'm excited to transition to the position of the 21st Century After School Coordinator. This position will continue to help me fulfill my goal of ensuring that students have the support and tools needed to depart from our schools, graduate and be on the trajectory to reach their goals. It will also allow me to be a liason for the district as we partner with community organizations, such as the Boys and Girls Club, to create opportunities for ‘the Adults of Tomorrow’ to learn and succeed, as well as assist families and communities to thrive,” Ward stated.
Rascoe has 16 years of experience in education, all with NRMPS. She has a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Mathematics from Elizabeth City State University. Rascoe also has a master’s degree in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. She most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Rocky Mount Middle School and Southern Nash High School. “I’m really excited that the Superintendent saw fit to make me the principal of this new school and I am looking forward to helping students be successful in later years outside of high school,” Rascoe said.
Kennedy has 19 years of experience in education. Kennedy has worked for NRMPS for a total of four years. He most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Southern Nash High School. Kennedy has a bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University in Middle Grades Mathematics and a master’s degree from East Carolina University in Curriculum and Instruction. He also has a School Superintendent and School Administration advanced degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. “I am honored and deeply excited to have been named Principal of Benvenue Elementary School. It is my hope that all of us, working together as staff, parents and community, will provide the support and skills necessary for each of our children to reach and surpass their goals. I am looking forward to getting to know and work with you to help the Benvenue Elementary School community,” stated Kennedy.
