NRMPS Celebrates Retirees at Annual Luncheon

Nashville, NC – Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools (NRMPS) celebrated a total of 66 retirees during the district’s 2018 Retirement Luncheon on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.  The distinguished group has dedicated approximately 1,660 collective years of service to public education.  The event was held at Rose Hill in Nashville. Upon arrival, retirees enjoyed special music provided by Triple-Knot.  Each retiree was honored with lunch, a gift presented by Superintendent Dr. Shelton Jefferies, and a special skit.

Board of Education chair Ann Edge gave opening remarks and welcomed the retirees and their guests. Each retiree introduced themselves and shared their years of service and location. Superintendent Dr. Shelton Jefferies presented each honoree with a commemorative gift for their service.  After the special processional, Dr. Edward Hicks, NRMPS director for curriculum support provided the blessing of the meal.

After lunch, a special skit presentation was made by NRMPS employees and administrators. The light-hearted skit served as a friendly reminder for the retirees to enjoy their new phase of life by always remembering to live life to the fullest.

Dr. Shelton Jefferies spoke during the event and thanked all of the retirees for their service. “We appreciate you and admire your dedication and commitment to your profession and our district.  Although you are retiring, we look forward to having you back in our schools as volunteers,” Superintendent Dr. Shelton Jefferies stated.  A special thank you to Michelle Davis, NRMPS human resources generalist for chairing the special event.
